THE BIG PICTURE SO FAR

The black and pink down flags resolve UP.
So, on the basis of the pink down flag, gold
is overbought...or...ready to break out higher.
Monday will show us more.

THIS WEEK'S GOLD TRADING

The white down flag resolves UP

2:15PM PST AFTERNOON CLOSE FOR THE WEEKEND

10:37AM PST GOLD RISES INTO THE CLOSE

The Dollar kept getting stronger and gold
and the Euro were falling, but gold somehow
decided to rise in the minutes just before the
close with a drop right on the last minute of the
close, then continued back up in the first minutes
of electronic trading.
Volume should return on Sunday afternoon, and
especially on Monday when the markets are
back to normal.

10:12AM PST

8:27AM PST GOLD RISES TO THE PREVIOUS HIGH, BUT THE DOLLAR ISN'T DROPPING, AND THE EURO ISN'T RISING

Bonds dropping
Dow and Oil rising

8:02AM PST EVERYTHING REVERSES, DOLLAR MOVES UP TO ..8232, EURO PULLS BACK A BIT

Dow up about 130, Oil up to the 44s

7:25AM PST DOLLAR FALLS TO .8202, EURO STILL RISING

7:19AM PST DOLLAR FALLS TO .82125, EURO RISING

Gold spikes to 87970
Dollar moves up off its low a bit
Euro pulls back from its high a bit
Gold pulling back on profit taking
I made a tidy little profit on the move.

THE LARGER PICTURE

6:50AM PST GOLD PEEKS ABOVE THE BLUE UP CHANNEL AS DOLLAR SLIPS A BIT MORE

Very tricky area to buy. Dollar is weak, Euro
is not moving up strongly, Oil is pulling back,
Dow is weakening after going nowhere after
the open

6:41AM PST THREE UP FLAGS, ALL RESOLVE DOWN

Dollar still low at .8241

6:34AM PST GOLD PULLS BACK AFTER AGAIN BREACHING BOTH THE BLUE UP AND DOWN FLAGS

Dollar back down to .8242
Euro pulls back a bit, but is now moving back up.
Oil tops off at 44.70s
Dow up a bit on the open
Yen moving up
Bonds rounding over slightly at the 139s
Gold forming a dangerous little up flag or ledge
that it could fall from.

6:11AM PST DOLLAR DOWN TO .8246, GOLD SHOULD MOVE UP

6:02AM PST DOLLAR FALLS TO .8252, EURO CREEPING UP

Gold trading predictably in its 75% up and down
pattern, trending higher, but very cautiously.

5:37AM PST GOLD HITS 75% RETRACE POINT AT 87570 AND PULLS BACK

Gold breaks above the blue down flag, and is
not testing the top line for support on its
pull back
Dollar falls to .82515
Euro hits 1.3871

6:02AM PST DOLLAR HITS .8281, EURO FALLING

Dollars pulls back from its high to .8267.
Euro falls to 1.3826 before turning up slightly.
Gold trading at the lower side of its UP flag
which could resolve DOWN.
It's too close to the open to risk a trade, as
opening action, especially in a very thin market,
is too fast and wild unless you can be lightening
fast with your orders, and even then you could
get screwed royally on a market order if you
get too greedy.

4:45AM PST DOLLAR MOVES UP TO .8270

Gold volume still quite low at this hour, but
movement is good for in and out trades.
Take it the second you make it. Gold moves up
and down 75% both ways then reverses.

4:28AM PST DOLLAR MOVES UP TO .8252

Euro on its low at 1.3865 and falling

FRIDAY 1/2/2009 OVERNIGHT GOLD

Thursday, January 1, 2009

6:43PM PST GOLD MAY MOVE UP FROM HERE

Very light volume here.
In and out trades only.

NEW YEAR'S DAY 6:00PM PST

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

HAPPY NEW YEAR, GOLDBUGS!

Talk about sitting on gold!

MOVING AVERAGES ON A DAILY CHART DEC 31, 2008

Gold still above the 200 day MA.
Dan Norcini points out, in his comment today,
that when gold neared the 10 day MA, buyers
moved in, and that was why gold took off.
That and the fact that there was almost nobody
on the trading floor which, oddly enough, should
have left the markets at the mercy of the short
sellers.

2:15PM PST AFTERNOON CLOSE...GOLD MARKET RE-OPENS THURSDAY EVENING AT 3:00PM PST

12:55PM PST GOLD GOES SIDEWAYS IN A DOWN FLAG

11:40AM PST GOLD FORMS A DOWN FLAG

THE BIG PICTURE SO FAR

Gold has now retraced more than 50% of
the entire move down from THE TOP at 1045.00

GOLD HAS RETRACED MORE THAN 75% OF THE ENTIRE DOWN MOVE FROM 93880 TO 688

10:50AM PST THE LARGER PICTURE

10:45AM PST GOLD ROARS INTO THE DAY CLOSE

I made $170 per contract.
At the top, they were worth $1640.
SHIT!

9:46AM PST GOLD RUBS MY NOSE IN IT A LITTLE MORE

Gold breaks above the white downtrend channel
and moves above the previous high at 878.
Next highs to pass are:
88590
89010
then the big high at 892.
Right now it is pulling back trying to find support
on the top white line of the previous downtrend channel

9:41AM PST LOOK AT THAT SOB GO!

9:35AM PST GOLD MOVES UP TO THE WHITE DOWNTREND LINE

I'm just glad I didn't have to take a loss.
But look at what I missed.
This happens frequently when you are pressured
to avoid a loss. You just want out and cover your
commissions, especially after the market plays
with you by dancing up and down around your
buy in price and keeps looking weak like it will
go down again big time. This happens all the time.
It's as if the gold gods know how to screw with
your mind.

9:27AM PST WED GOLD SELLS OFF ALL NIGHT AND MOST OF MORNING, NOW SPIKES TO THE OLD HIGH

GT started a trade last night that went south
big time. I had to stay awake all night to monitor
it, and I'm in gumby land.
The horizontal green line is where I got in.
The trade went negative and just now spiked up
to my buy in price and played with me, dancing
on my price, finally it spiked up sufficiently to get
me out with a small profit....BUT....
then it went even higher and would have made
three and a half times as much.
At least I'm out with a profit.
I didn't want to end the year with a loser.
See the next chart for the close up of what
just happened.

2:15PM PST AFTERNOON CLOSE

11:30AM PST CLOSER LOOK AT TODAY

11:27AM PST THE LARGER PICTURE

9:12AM PST THREE NICE TRADEABLE DIPS SINCE MIDNIGHT, ALL WITH GOOD RALLIES

9:08AM PST GOLD BEING SOLD OFF BEFORE YEAR'S END TO SETTLE BOOKS

Today and tomorrow could be interesting as
various players decide to close their positions
in all commodities to balance their books for
tax purposes by taking losses now, or profits
(if they have them) to make hedge funds look
better for the quarter.

9:34AM PST GOLD ALL OVER THE PLACE TODAY

Dollar moves up to .81105
Euro moves down further
Dow off about 100 points

7:41AM PST GOLD RETRACES DOWN ALMOST 75%

7:30AM PST DOLLAR MOVES UP TO .8100, GOLD PULLS BACK

7:14AM PST GOLD RETRACES BACK UP MORE THAN 75%

Dollar and Euro not giving any definitive
indications that help predict gold's movement.
Gold, more or less, moving on its own, except
that the dollar is still low.
Dow falling, off about 60 points
Yen moving up, Oil pulling back to the 38s
Bonds leveling off after a climb into the 141s
Euro trading very oddly and not moving with gold

6:45AM PST GOLD LOWER EVEN THOUGH DOLLAR IS HOLDING NEAR .8075

Gold may fall to fill the opening gap from the
Sunday open
